About Us

CargoMax software products have been developed by Louis Koutelas – Master Mariner and CEO of Hunter Marine Surveyors based in Newcastle, Australia. With over 40 years seagoing and surveying experience Louis understands the pressures and difficulties associated with performing draft surveys and trimming calculations. CargoMax software products provide a fast, easy and reliable solution to students, seafarers and surveyors which are stress-free and accurate.
Over the past 20 years CargoMax has been through many forms of hardware from Pocket PC’s to modern mobile phones and tablets.

About CargoMax

CARGOMAX USB PRO 3 is a new and improved system from the original CargoMax USB. It is an innovative tool for ships Masters and Senior Officers who monitor ship loadings. The program is designed and written by experts in the field of ship loading and therefore is easy to use and it provides instant and accurate results. It is a self-contained system that can be used on any PC which has Microsoft Excel installed. It contains over 7000 ships data files and is easily portable and transportable. USBs come with a free update function that allows you to continually update your vessel database from the CargoMax cloud at the touch of a button.
CargoMax PRO 3 – Tablet has the CargoMax software installed and provides the convenience of calculations on the run.

Work Page

Select from over 7000 ships in the database. To find a ship simply select the first letter of the name of the ship at the top then scroll down to your vessel.

Stowage Factor

The stowage factor page will tell you how much cargo will fit based on the cubic capacities on the data page. It is particularly useful for volumetric cargoes like coal which can fill the space.

Drafts Pages

Simply enter information into the yellow cells and calculations will be instantaneous. There is constant feedback on list, trim and hog/sag to help the user find draft reading errors. Once the drafts are entered the displacement and cargo calculations are updated instantly.

Trimming Calculations

You can trim to your desired midship draft or to a particular cargo figure. The trimming pours and expected drafts are calculated automatically. The software allows you to select which hatches you would like to load, the amount of trim that will be required at completion of loading and it shows you the resulting cargo figure that will be achieved upon completion. As a safety measure red overloading warnings will appear if the summer draft is exceeded.

Passage Consumption

This allows you to calculate the bodily rise and change of trim during the vessels passage. It is particularly beneficial for loadings that are restricted by arrival draft limits.

SAG Effect

This page gives information regarding what the maximum cargo could have been if the vessel completed with zero sag. It then tabulates how much cargo was short due to various amounts of sag. This feature is vital in gaining awareness of the hull condition in an effort to try and maximise cargo.

Hatch Breakdown

The Hatch Breakdown calculation can be done at the interim survey or at the final survey. It may be useful to conduct it at the interim survey to monitor different grade max/min ranges. Tanktop limits can be monitored here to ensure limits are not exceeded.

Draught Survey Report

The draught survey report page displays all the important information used and calculated in the survey. When the survey is complete you can print the survey report for record keeping. The report standard is an easy to read standard widely used in bulk commodities around the world.

Hydrostatic Data

This page holds the ship’s hydrostatics data for ‘Displacement’, ‘TPC’, ‘LCF’ and ‘MTC’ These values are entered in the yellow cells at 20 centimetre draft intervals. The CargoMax program will interpolate between the appropriate values.
Graphs are available and can be used to identify significant errors in the hydrostatics data. An abnormal spike in a graph is an indication that there is an error. To swap between graphs click on the buttons bellow the graph.
There is also an easy to use allowance for moulded drafts.
